The KYN28A-12 12kV medium voltage (MV) switchgear is a fully enclosed indoor power distribution assembly, purpose-built for receiving and distributing electrical energy in medium voltage systems. The KYN28A-12 designation defines the equipment’s core specifications: K for metal-clad enclosed switchgear, Y for withdrawable design, N for indoor installation, 28A as the design serial number, and 12 for the 12kV rated voltage class.
The switchgear consists of a cabinet body and withdrawable handcart assembly, with the cabinet fabricated from high-strength aluminum-zinc coated steel plate. It is divided into four isolated metal compartments: circuit breaker chamber, main busbar chamber, cable chamber, and relay & meter chamber. Compatible handcart types include circuit breaker, voltage transformer (PT), metering, and isolation handcarts, with full interchangeability for units of the same type.
Comprehensive Five-Prevention Safety Interlock: The reliable mechanical and electrical interlock system eliminates critical operational risks, preventing misoperation of circuit breakers, load-type handcart movement, closing with an earthed switch, earthing under live voltage, and unauthorized entry into live compartments, drastically reducing on-site safety hazards.
Wide Component Compatibility: Supports mainstream vacuum circuit breakers including ZN63A (VS1), VD4, ZN21, 3AH and VEP, as well as vacuum contactors and load switches, enabling flexible configuration for diverse project requirements.
Superior Environmental Adaptability: Optional heaters in the circuit breaker and cable chambers prevent condensation and corrosion, extending service life in harsh industrial environments. The enclosure achieves an IP4X protection rating, with IP2X protection when the breaker chamber door is open.
Enhanced Fault Safety: Independent pressure relief channels in the busbar and breaker chambers ensure rapid pressure discharge during short-circuit faults, protecting personnel and adjacent equipment.
